Daniel Negreanu Biography


Daniel Negreanu was born in 1974 in Toronto, Canada and is known as the Poker Kid. He got this nickname because he was very young when he began playing professionally and the older pros gave him the nickname Poker Kid. Daniel never started out thinking he would play blackjack and poker professionally, instead he played a lot of pool to support himself. When he turned twenty-one he took off to Vegas to become a pro poker player and he hasn’t looked by yet. Daniel has always displayed a winning attitude and has been able to succeed at practically anything he has wanted too.

Daniel is a rather loose poker player who makes his money by playing any possible cards at any given time and this strikes fear in many of his opponents. You never know if Daniel is bluffing or betting with a solid hand and it’s nearly impossible to get a read off of him. He is one of the most talkative players at the table and loves for the players to be in conversation, but don’t become to friendly or else he’ll take you for everything you have.

Negreanu has won a whole host of poker tournaments in his lifetime and so far has three WSOP bracelets. This isn’t comparable to Hellmuth or Nguyen, but three bracelets is a lot more then most people will ever win. Daniel has also won player of the year awards in 2004 and continues playing in tournaments to this day. He hasn’t had any notable finishes lately, but he is still competing in the biggest poker tournaments out there in hopes of capturing another WSOP bracelet.

Daniel is also apart of the Poker Stars website and plays online poker in there poker room quite a bit. You can go to this poker room at watch him battle it out against online opponents in high stakes games. Daniel also runs a blog online which he updates regularly with content about poker and his life in general. He’s one of the only poker players who spends time reaching out to the poker audience and he has been noted as one of the more influential poker players in history.

A lot of young poker players nowadays began there dream after seeing Daniel playing in massive WSOP tournaments. This is when it wasn’t quite as popular as it is today and not many young players would be seen on the television. Daniel has a vibrate eye for the television and therefore is always being shown on featured tables and poker shows on television. This has helped gain his popularity and also has shown that anyone at any age can become successful in this game.

Daniel hasn’t written any books or an PokerStars Cheat software programs yet, but he is still young enough that a book in the future seems likely. I’m sure he would love to write a book as he seems to love writing on his online blog. Daniel has already become one of the best poker players in history and he still has a lot of years to increase his status in the poker world.
