Craps Tips
May 29, 2009
Craps is one of the most exciting games that people play in the casino besides blackjack. You’ll most likely be drawn to the game when you visit the casino. If this happens to be the case then you’re going to want to be able to play the game well because it can cost you a lot of money if you don’t. The game is mostly luck although if you don’t know what type of bets to make then you’re going to be lost at the table and most players aren’t to willing to help other players.
* If you play the pass line in craps like most players do then you need to make sure you put the bet behind the pass line once the point is set. You only make even money on the pass line so you need to make sure you put the bet behind it as well because it pays out better. A lot of beginner players won’t do this and it costs them a lot of money.
* Generally when the point is on 4, 6, 8, or 10 you will want to add a bet on the hardway for the number that the point is. If the point is on 8 then you’ll want to bet on hardway 8. If 4/4 is rolled then you win both the point plus the hardway bet. If any other combination of 8 is rolled then you still win the point, but you lose the hardway bets. The hardway bets payout 7:1 and 9:1 though so it’s worth putting a small bet out there.
* When you have money out on the table on the other numbers, hardways and other bets you do have the option before the dice are rolled every time to call your bets off. If you do this your bets won’t be valid for that roll and you won’t lose or win anything. If you’re gut feeling is telling you that a 7 is going to be rolled then make sure you call your bets down. Even if the roll would have won you money it’s smart to call your bets down when you’re not feeling the dice.
* If you have a hot roller who keeps on hitting certain numbers make sure you double up your bets the first few times he or she hits the number. You’ll make a lot more money when the number hits this way and you can take it down any time you want too.
* When you’re playing live craps at the Bellagio, make sure that you don’t talk about rolling a 7 or craps when another player is rolling. Also make sure you keep your hands above the table because if you mess up the roll anyway you’ll often have players all over you, especially if it causes a 7 to hit the table. You don’t want to make enemies at the craps tables so just make sure you don’t talk about rolling 7 or interfere with the game and you’ll be fine.
